Cmurek Emerged on a Bluff

An exhibit about the architectural history of Castle Cmurek from the 12th to the 19th centuries, created by castleologist Dr. Igor Sapač.

Cmurek Castle is one of the five oldest preserved castles in Slovenia. The castle was first mentioned in 1145, and its first owners were the free nobles Burkard and Juta of Cmurek. From 1401 to 1931, the castle was owned by the Stubenberg family. Today, the castle is home to many relics of a rich and varied past, especially valuable are the traces of the Romanesque and Renaissance periods. The material for the exhibition on the history of Cmurek Castle has been prepared in cooperation with Dr. Igor Sapač, a castleologist.
